Fred and Marialyce Hiss, her brothers John (Barbara) Hiss, and David (Laurie) Hiss, her sister Judy (John) Giovannetti, nieces Danielle and Kimberly Hiss, nephew Trevor Hiss and many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. She is survived by long-time companion Tony Suazo and many dear friends, including long-time friends Gurran and Patricia Kane and Barbara and Kevin O’Dell.

Beth was born April 17, 1956 in Syracuse, NY. She was a member of the Roessleville Presbyterian Church. Beth graduated from Colonie Central High School and was valedictorian of her class in 1978 from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. She received her master’s degree in Speech Pathology in 1980 from Columbia University in New York City. She worked as a speech pathologist for the Alcott School, culminating in her becoming the Executive Director of the agency in 2009. Beth had made Stony Point, NY her home since she moved there in 1983.

In addition to her incredible work schedule, Beth and her family were active members of the Just for Fun Baseball League, serving the North Rockland community. She was president of the organization for 19 years and, together with a team of loving friends, was instrumental in creating a league that provided a positive social experience for children engaged in a team sport. She was also extremely active in Boy Scout Troop 10, and could be found every year, decorating wreaths and selling trees and wreaths during the holiday season.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requests that donations be made to the Alcott School Scholarship Fund, Inc., 27 Crane Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583, or at www.alcottschool.org/memorial.
